Ford Donates to Fund California Startup

To stay on the cutting-edge of technology, Ford has recently donated to a California-based startup company dedicated to making three-dimensional maps for future autonomous vehicles.

The automaker, along with three other companies, donated over $6.6 million in seed funding to Civil Maps in order to help jumpstart this technological boom. Civil Maps will use artificial-intelligence to collect data from sensors on self-driving vehicles.

For young mother, Terry Maxfield, it was love at first sight. She’d gone to the Ohio dealership to look for a family vehicle. She was expecting a baby and already had a toddler. But when she saw the beautiful, blue 1965 Ford Mustang, she knew that it was her car.

She drove it off the lot and the rest, as they say, is history. The two have spent 50 years together and covered many miles of road.
