Fuel economy has improved greatly in cars and trucks from where it was 20 or 30 years ago. But that doesn't mean that you shouldn't do all you can to maximize your fuel economy. Here are some tips to help you get the most miles per gallon.

Pay attention to your tires. Keeping your tires properly inflated will help you get better gas mileage, and it also will keep you safer on the road.

Avoid starts and stops. You will get better gas mileage if you can go at a steady speed, so use expressways whenever possible and try to avoid driving in rush hour traffic.

Reduce weight and drag. Excess weight and things that cause drag will lower gas mileage, so take things out of your trunk you don't need and remove luggage and bike racks when you aren't using them.

These are just a few of the things you can do to help boost your gas mileage.
